My Universe

The Universe! Yay. So much to say isn't there? This is probably the most familiar picture to anyone with any interest in cosmology or astrophysics. This is the universe. Of course we can only see a maximum of about 500 million years of universe. And most of this is way out of date. But... isn't it pretty? You can just stare at it for ever and ever.





The best thing about it I think is the big hole somewhere in the bottom-left. I can't remember where exactly, near the bottom though. One of those blue spots is a billion light years across and so devoid of anything that it doens't even have dark matter. Just amazing. A billion light years of nothing. Not a single particle. Some people think it's an impression from another universe. Ooooooh. WMAP Cold Spot fun.
