'I've been trying to think of things to write...' is always a fantastic way to start a post, but it would be a lie. The truth is, my 80 daily readers, that I've been busy living my life and getting on with things instead of wasting away on here.
Nonetheless! Here are some things I have discovered of recent on the internet.
First of all is the rather fantastic section of Cynical-C's blog 'You Can't Please Everyone.' YCPE is a prime collection of all the one star reviews from Amazon.com's premium products. My particular favourite is a review of Gone With The Wind;
at no point in this movie does anyone’s head explode in flames. truly great films such as welcome to spring break recognize the need for such scenes, but this movie clearly fails to understand the emotional resonance a burning head can create. if you want to see a truly great movie, check out welcome to spring break.
It's the same people who write these reviews that must write all the bitter youtube comments to Queen videos that dampens the blow of surprise when you learn that 79% of Americans believe that God created the world in 7 days. There are other great sections on the blog too including the 'Where's Jesus?' section, a typology of Jesusish ephemera from all over the world.
Number 3 on the list is the hugely influential Conservapedia. Which, as it's name might suggest is a wiki written by and for the American right, the same people who try to encourage people that God created the world in 7 days and will probably save us all from the real world.
Hilights of the wiki?; Homosexuality, which includes tips on how it can be cured and why it's wrong. Also Evolution, how it never happened, is evil and is racist is a good read. I think the authors refrain from actually saying 'evolution' and just call evolutionists 'passive developmentists.'
I genuinely think sometimes that the sole reason for my existence is just to creat obscure collections of strange things. Then I began to realise that what I do, in fact, is collect collections. Anyway, enjoy!
